When I asked to Sit, the dog returned to the Down position
- Your dog could be a little confused between the Sit and Down. When you’re luring for the Sit, your hand should be encouraging their head to go UP. If you’re luring for the Down, your hand should be encouraging their head to go Down.
- Try and keep your hand with the treat directly in front of their nose when you lure UP for the Sit command so they’re less likely to drop down away from the treat and instead follow your hand into the Sit position.
- Any time your dog isn’t following your commands, make sure you are trying again using a visual cue and not just telling your dog the command. Your dog follows visual cues much easier than simply hearing the cue.
