The dog doesn’t perform the command without luring him down on his side
- When you’re first teaching your dog Roll Over, try to avoid attaching the verbal cue until your dog is doing this behavior easily without a food lure before moving on to the next step.
- Once your dog is very quick to roll over from the Relax cue, do a few rapid repetitions of having your dog Relax, then Roll, Stand. Relax, Roll, Stand. Repeat.
- Your dog should start to pick up on the consistent pattern you’re asking from him and start to jump ahead to begin rolling over and then standing before you need to even ask. Quick repetitions of the same 3 commands should help your dog figure out he doesn’t need to wait for you to ask him to relax!
